Outlook is requesting data from the server...

Hi,
I have two local domain controllers, both configured as
global catalog servers. The exchange server is also local
(all on the same subnet.) One of the DCs runs my backup
routines. Occasionally one will hang and the server will
need to be rebooted. During this reboot process clients
have extremely slow communications with the exchange
server and frequently receive the pop-up window, "Outlook
is requesting data from the server..." I had thought that
by having two global cats, this would not be an issue.

How can I introduce redundancy such that users' won't
notice when I reboot one of the GC's.

Any ideas appreciated!

Thanks-

hi john,

just a thought..i usually see this happening when the client is trying to
download a large attachment/large e-mail.

might not be the issue, but the first thing that came to mind.

I have a client machine, every morning when it first log on, always very very
very slow, and a message "microsoft request data from exchange" appears.
After log on, everything goes OK.

Thought about server power saving, or network cable. But nothing seems to
be related.

Any help?
